Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment Campaigns
August 2020, was a historic once-in-a lifetime opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic. This responsibility was a huge role as the COVID-19 Graphic Designer for the emergency response with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment. Design skills were key in this response to help inform the public with many communication resources in order to stay safe during a pandemic. Many brand marketing campaigns were developed from concept to completion such as Power the Comeback, Roadmap Forward, The vaccine is for Us, Colorado's Mobile Public Health Clinic program, and the Mpox awareness campaign.
Power the Comeback
Power the Comeback is a marketing campaign that launched in 2021 to help increase access to credible COVID-19 vaccine information, reduce hesitancy, and help Coloradans access appointments. It was also used to help promote business to take the pledge, get involved, and open their businesses back up. The design materials included a website banner, posters, and social media graphics for each site location.
Colorado’s Next Chapter: Roadmap Forward
This roadmap to moving forward outlines the steps Colorado believes are necessary to maintain a level of preparedness and agility in order to keep Coloradans safe and healthy – no matter if it is for the next wave of this pandemic or an unknown pandemic in the future. The department was focused on working with care providers to determine and remove barriers to COVID testing, immunization, and treatment in the health system. This project included a letterhead banner, PDF document, and social media graphics.
La vacuna es para nosotros/The vaccine is for us
La vacuna es para nosotros or The vaccine is for Us, is a Spanish marketing campaign that launched in 2021 to help encourage Latinx/e communities to get vaccinated against COVID-19. There were a large numbers of unvaccinated for this specific audience and the goal was to reduce vaccine hesitancy among these communities. These images, videos, and voices are real stories from family members that volunteered to help with collaboration of Sylvia Johnson, made possible by National Geographic Society’s Emergency Fund and created with Garfield County Public Health. The work included a short instagram reel with audio editing and compiled short scripts for the social media graphics.
Colorado’s Mobile Public Health Clinic Program
The Mobile Public Health Clinic Program’s mission is to bridge gaps in access to disease control and public health services, and rapidly respond to emergent issues. With an emphasis on serving low-income and underserved areas of the state. We primarily serve uninsured and underinsured Coloradans for a Health for All. The design included the logo design, teardrop flag, website banner, children’s drawing book, and van wrap design.
Mpox Response
Mpox cases has increased in Colorado and the overall goal is to share communication resources that informs the general public what mpox is, how to get vaccinated, and where to get tested. The work included a brand identity, creative brainstorming session, and creative direction for the materials. As the lead designer, the design materials included a website banner, flyers, posters, palm cards, and digital ads.
